Feral Cat Residents
Our Feral Cat Residents currently are being socialized and evaluated. One day if they decide, they will be switched to our adoptable cats.
Here at Fat Cat Rescue and Sanctuary "Every Cat Counts".
Smoky
This stunning gentleman is on a journey from reserved to social butterfly. Initially, Smoky's social interactions were limited to his fellow felines, but he has recently begun to explore human companionship. You can now find him venturing up to the third floor, where he cautiously approaches people in hopes of a pet. Though he may be tentative at first, once you start petting him he just melts, his purring becoming loud and persistent. Smoky will then follow you around, eager for more affection and love.
Lacy
Lacy, the sassy resident of Room Nine, often prefers hiding when humans are about. Recently, however, she’s grown more comfortable with those who sit quietly in her space and has even started emerging for treats. This newfound trust has revealed her quirky signature sleeping position: Lacy loves to nap on her side with one leg in the air. Volunteers are charmed and delighted by this endearing glimpse into her silly, relaxed side.
Muffy
Muffy may sport a perpetually grumpy expression and an aloof demeanor, but beneath that tough exterior lies an absolute softy. With patience and a slow approach, you'll find that Muffy adores pets. When you hit the perfect spot on her cheek, she leans into it so deeply that she often ends up sprawled out, boneless, on the floor. Though she may be shy about showing it, Muffy truly loves to be loved and will reward your kindness with heartfelt affection.
Hobo
Hobo is a distinguished elderly gentleman who has embraced his retirement years in the feral yard with grace. This sweet boy finds bliss in napping amidst the grass and soaking up the sun. When he’s not enjoying his serene outdoor life, Hobo adores human affection. His response to pets is heartwarming; he melts into your touch and may even press against you in pure contentment. His appreciation is further expressed through a unique, loud, raspy purr that resonates with his joy.
Freddy Krueger
Freddy Krueger embodies a classic “Jekyll and Hyde” personality. When treats are involved, his namesake becomes evident—he's not shy about using his claws to slash both humans and fellow felines. Yet, when treats are absent, Freddy transforms into a timid, shy boy who is gentle with other cats and wary of humans. His dual nature proves that even cats with a fierce front can have a soft, affectionate side. Just remember: don’t touch Freddy’s food!
Gypsy
Though naturally shy, Gypsy has been making valiant efforts to step out of her shell. She has a favorite spot—a particular table on the third floor—where she likes to sit beneath and watch you with her large, expressive eyes until you notice her. Approach slowly, and this gentle lady will graciously allow you to sit next to her under the table, where you can earn her affection with tasty treats.
Queenie
Her Royal Majesty Queenie reigns with beauty and grace. Although she is not inclined to entertain the physical touch of her subjects (a.k.a. humans), she graciously accepts tributes in the form of delectable treats. Recently, she has deigned to approach her loyal subjects, to signal her readiness to receive these offerings. In addition to her noble demeanor, Queenie possesses a remarkable talent for snatching treats mid-air using her dexterous paw with the precision of a seasoned athlete. Her subjects eagerly anticipate the day when they might be granted a closer audience with this magnificent monarch.
Bean
Buckley (Bean) " Buckley is a senior feral cat known affectionately as Bean due to his small size. Bean's primary mission in life is to befriend every cat he encounters, regardless of their initial response. This often results in him receiving slaps from less receptive cats, but Bean remains undeterred in his pursuit of friendship. On the other hand, Bean takes a lot longer to warm up to humans. It can take months of bribing him with treats and being very patient, but once he accepts you, you have a friend for life. Bean truly has a boundless capacity for love and a one-of-a-kind character."
Flooffers
Flooffers is named so because he is an absolute flooffy cloud of a cat with gorgeous teal eyes. He embodies the essence of a handsome celebrity, requiring admiration from a distance as if you are the paparazzi. Whether he's striking a pose in the afternoon sun or curled up indoors in the cutest ball of fluff, Flooffers captivates with his distant allure. However, recently Flooffers has shown signs of boldness by accepting treats and occasionally coming closer to his admirers. There is hope that one day soon, his beauty will be fully appreciated up close."
Cami
Cami "Cami, affectionately nicknamed Lemur by volunteers, is a petite and stunning kitty known for her unique behavior. She spends most of her time on the third floor, leaping gracefully from cat tree to cat tree, almost never touching the ground. Cami can be nervous around humans and will never be a lap cat, but once she gets to know you she adores gentle pets and becomes a very loving, sweet-natured cat."
Daisy
Daisy "Daisy is very curious and loves observing humans, but prefers to maintain a good amount of distance while doing so. Normally, Daisy can be found in room 9 cuddling on the couch with her best friend Coco Chanel. However, Daisy recently surprised everyone by displaying some newfound bravery. She suddenly started exploring the feral yard, enjoying the pleasures of sunbathing and playing in the grass, demonstrating a joyful and adventurous side that was previously hidden. We are all so delighted to see her growing and finding new things to enjoy."
Dotty
Dotty "Dotty is a small but spirited senior kitty who radiates sass and spunk despite her age. While Dotty enjoys affection and loves to be petted, she has a specific way she prefers it done. She won't hesitate to give a slap as a reminder if the pets aren't up to her standards. This mixture of sweetness and spicy temperament characterizes her unique personality."

Tammy
Meet Miss Tammy
Tammy is another permanent Fat Cat resident in rooms 5/6. Tammy has cerebellar hypoplasia; also
known as wobbly cat syndrome. Although she's got a swivel to her walk, it doesn't stop her from climbing a cat tower or chasing a toy. Tammy often shares her space with Marky Mark in the corner or can be found lounging on one of the cat shelves. She has a bit of the spice so it's best to talk to her at a distance.

Tiny
OMG.. This tiny little feral cat came to Fat Cat Rescue a little over two month ago.. we recieved a call to see if we would let Tiny (yep that's her nameTiny) could come and live at Fat Cat Rescue because she came from a apartment complex on Delany Rd in Gurnee Illinois, they trapped her at the apartment closest to the four lanes of traffic on Delany Rd.. they were afraid to re-release her there, she's a full grown cat that is so tiny weighing 3lbs, both ears frostbite half off and it was a mild winter but we did get like a week of super cold weather also her tail had to be half amputated off frost bite killed half of her tail.. well obviously I said yes, because of the danger she was in, both from her size and especially the traffic.. she is so tiny and trying to care for herself.. she looks like a kitten.. seriously when I first seen her in real life I thought she was a kitten, I said come on this is a kitten.. I was told she was feral feral cat wild as heck, dynamite comes in small packages, well that's Tiny everytime I'd come in the room she'd fly to get away from any of us entering. Then she started to understandthe routineof cleaningand feeding. so we left her alone, and she began to watch how the other cats were being treated.. and Bingo she got it, they are feeding and caring for all of us.... I think Tiny will eventually flip.. maybe not today or next week, but she will, the volunteers at Fat Cat Rescue are magic.. feral cat whisperer's.. Tiny Loves Katherine, while sitting on the floor Tiny reached out to pet her yesterday, 💕 before Katherine comes to FCR she boils chicken and she sits in the rooms with the feral cats and feeds them petting and loving on them..💋 Miss Tiny Loves playing with toys, and loves Joey another feral cat, who was attracted by a dog, that hid for like a year now he's sitting in laps and loving their caregiver, Fat Cat Rescue has amazing Volunteers..!

Tommy -
Meet Tommy
Tommy is a very handsome boy that is one of our permanent residents in Room 6. The first thing you notice about Tommy is that he holds his front right foot up as he moves. This birth defect does not hinder Tommy in any way. When chasing the laser light, Tommy is as fast as any cat! Tommy is quite the shy gentleman towards humans, but he often makes a trio out of the super duper duo of Oreo and Squirt. If caught in deep
slumber, you may be able to feel just how soft his beautiful black and white coat is!

Tutu - Cybil
meet Tutu
Although her paperwork shows this calico girl's name to be Cybil, at Fat Cat she is well
known as Tutu because of her two toned facial coloring. A very vocal girl, Tutu has no qualms about letting you know quite loudly that she wants something. It could be food, attention or especially chicken treats. She is a favorite amongst the permanent residents here at Fat Cat

Ceri Sue
Meet Ceri Sue
Ceri Sue is a beautiful dilute tortie girl. She arrived at Fat Cat under sad circumstances a few years ago. Her owner died unbeknownst to anyone and for several days Ceri Sue and 7 other cats were alone without care. They arrived on a night of bustling activity at Fat Cat--the first kitty cat sleepover--so there were many volunteers around to greet her and the others.
Ceri Sur, despite the best efforts of our great volunteers, hasn't really warmed up to any one human at this point. She will still cozy up on occasion with Demi, one of the other last remaining cats of the original group. She doesn't hide as much as she used to and will quietly observe from wherever she's perched. Ceri Sue will accept treats from
humans who have an accurate throw! We love Ceri Sue and all her spicyness!
